Gathered Resources | Childbirth Education in the Twin Cities

If there’s one thing all the Gather Birth founders agrees about (and there’s waaaay more than one thing!), it’s that quality childbirth education should be a part of everyone’s prenatal preparation for labor and birth. Childbirth ed teaches families the process of labor and birth, along with so many other important topics. A childbirth class can cover postpartum, newborn care, breastfeeding/bodyfeeding, comfort measures, and labor positions. Most importantly, a childbirth education class should teach families about the many options they have during birth, as well as how to use evidence-based resources to make informed decisions.

We feel so lucky to live and work in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area, where families have tons of childbirth education options at their fingertips. We love making things easy for families, which is why we’ve compiled this ever-growing list of childbirth educators and classes in the Twin Cities*.

Out-of-Hospital Childbirth Education Classes

We firmly believe that seeking childbirth education from an organization outside of a hospital is incredibly important. When your childbirth class is independent of a hospital’s policies, the content is free of any bias that may leave out important options and considerations for your family. Minneapolis and St. Paul has several businesses devoted to childbirth education, with dedicated locations for families to attend class. These businesses may offer both in-person and virtual class options, as well as varying childbirth education class topics and subjects.

Hypnosis for Childbirth Classes

Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies are two birth tools that combine childbirth education and learning hypnosis as a comfort tool. We’re lucky enough to have several experts offering this style childbirth classes in the Twin Cities. Hypnobirthing classes tend to be a longer-running series to provide families enough time to learn the basics of birth, as well as self-hypnosis for comfort.
