You’ve spent months growing and nourishing your baby from within, and persevered through the throes of labor or the planning of your cesarean. And now, it’s time. You allow your baby to be born, in a room full of love. Perhaps you glance at your partner as they get a first glimpse into the eyes of your little one. These last few seconds before you hold your baby skin to skin can feel like an eternity and a split second all at once, as you or your surrogate ushers in this new life. You reach out with your hands to hold this precious little human and inhale that intoxicating newborn smell.
