Birth doula support, birth photography, and more in Minneapolis and St. Paul

Friday Finds: home organization, wanderlust, Black makers at Target, and more!

I spent a lot of time this week updating the Gather website. When we launched our business at the beginning of 2020, we had grand plans, but the pandemic required us — just like so many others — to many pivots and shifts, leaving us with a not-so-organized site. We’re on our way to better things with the website, our business, and life in general (we hope!), and I’m feeling good about the updates so far. “Miles to go…,” as they say, but things are feeling much simpler here on gatherbirth dot com.

  • The heartbeat of America is denial.

  • If you spend any amount of time hiking in the woods and your body requires that you squat to pee, these pants might be your new best friend.

  • After spending almost a full year at home (!!!!!), I find myself wishing we had better storage and display options for our kitchen goods. This new Marie Kondo storage line is calling out to me.

  • Friends, I miss traveling. And going out to eat. And getting dressed up for a night out. Victoria’s “Wear This There” series has been such a balm for me throughout the pandemic, and I may have added a few new cities to my “must visit!” list as a result of her posts.

  • “As the economy changes, and quarantine has revealed that many jobs can be performed remotely, you might find yourself with more geographic flexibility than you have had in a long time.”

  • Have you seen Target’s new collection celebrating Black makers and artisans? I’ve heard good things about the skincare options if you’re in the market.

  • Whether it’s for a few hours or a few minutes, Steve and I play cards on most days. Gin rummy is our current game, and cribbage is the game we always come back to. This stylish deck is calling my name.

  • I stumbled across this serene hotel a few days ago, got drawn in by the muted color palette and scenery, and can’t stop thinking about their dining chairs of all things.

  • Between Emily Henderson’s new Portland Farmhouse and Erin Hiemstra’s Hood Canal Cottage, along with everything Chris Loves Julia and Daniel Kanter share in their Instagram stories, my 2021 is going to be absolutely filled with gorgeous home renovations, and I couldn’t be more pleased.

We have big plans to make a snow fort this weekend, and I’ve been slowly working on sprucing the house up after the winter holidays. Do you have anything fun to look forward to this weekend?
