The Best of 2021: Birth Photography in Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Surrounding Suburbs

We’re back! Our regular end-of-year internet break was just what we needed, and now we’re here to share with you some of our favorite images from 2021. Admittedly, we all thought 2021 would look different than 2020 did… but we’re hopeful things will be better in 2022. Through it all, the Gather Birth team has continued to document breathtaking births in Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs. We’ve had the joy of attending home births, hospital births, and welcoming babies at birth centers. We’ve watched families meet their little ones after long labors and, remarkably, a surprising amount of quick ones! Babies have been welcomed by OB’s, DOs, and midwives, through water birth, inductions, and cesareans. Some things change, but the awesomeness of birth remains the same.

Within Gather, our team has grown by babies and associates, as we look to add to the Gather Birth family in 2022. Each member of Gather Birth has found new ways embrace their passion for birth and families, while also balancing life outside of birth work. Brooke was able to enjoy several off-call getaways this winter after another full year of supporting the bulk of Gather’s clients. Emily was able to flex her amazing birth photography skills for beloved friends in Minnesota and Colorado. The latter just happened to coincide with a much-needed family road trip! Gina welcomed her second child surrounded by her own family and the Gather Birth family (see her birth story here!). She continued to find new ways to support and educate families by offering gentle, evidence-based sleep support. Meredith had many opportunities to dive into her passion for interior design; she continued to renovate her family’s octagon cabin in Wisconsin, and moved to a new home in Minneapolis! On top of being busy moving and getting a new puppy, she continued to share her talent behind the lens this year.

Below, you’ll find our favorite moments from 2021. We’ll be honest, we had a really hard time whittling down this gallery! To have so many beautiful moments that it’s hard to decide which ones to share? That makes us feel pretty lucky.
