A Home Birth Transfer to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota | A Birth Announcement Film

Hospital transfers happen with planned home births.

For some families it’s an abrupt change of plans and expectations.

For others, its a needed relief to get other methods of pain control.

We’ve worked alongside the skilled midwives at Twin Cities Midwifery many times, most recently with families that needed to transfer to the hospital for varying reasons. Each time, I’ve been so impressed by their continued skilled and loving care at the hospital. While their role may change in the hospital setting, they provide immense emotional and physical support for the families they’ve developed such trusting relationship with. They help explain why certain interventions make sense when birth plans pivot in a calm, reassuring voice. They help advocate for as many of your birth preferences that are able to be incorporated in an unfamiliar environment. Plans may change, but the continuous support you choose can make a lasting impact on your birth and family.

Welcome to the world, sweet baby!
